What is High Dynamic Range (HDR) Real Estate Photography?

HDR photography is a technique used in real estate photography to capture and display a property with greater detail and balanced lighting. It involves taking multiple photos of the same scene at different exposure levels (typically underexposed, correctly exposed, and overexposed) and then merging them into a single image by either hand editing or using software editing.

HDR setups allow for a faster on-site shoot time while still maintaining a high quality result. A hand blended HDR image takes more time to edit post shoot to achieve the proper light, shadow, mid-tone and window balance.

When do we use HDR Photography?

We use it when we have limited time on-site, shooting a very large space (i.e. a warehouse) or shooting multiple structures in a single session. Typically, a 3,000 sq ft house can be shot in about 60 minutes using HDR photography.

We manually blend our HDR images to maximize detail, minimize color cast, and provide balanced final images that are unachievable through automated processes.

What is Flash Assisted (Flambient) Real Estate Photography?

Flash Assisted (aka Flambient) photography is a blend of two techniques: flash and ambient light. It's typically used in interior photography where the goal is to balance the natural, available light (ambient light) with artificial light (usually from a flash) to create an image that feels both well-lit and natural.

Flash Assisted photography allows for a perfect balance between ambient and flash lighting, providing a more natural look while still ensuring that all parts of the image are well-lit.

It helps maintain the atmosphere of a space, especially in real estate photography, where you want to capture the true feel of the room without overexposing or underexposing areas.

When do we use Flash Assisted Photography?

We use Flash Assisted photography when scheduling allows for ample time on-site for setup and shooting. When possible we will always shoot Flash Assisted interior photos under the proper circumstances to provide the highest quality tones, balance, and depth. Typically, a 3,000 sq ft home can be shot in about 2 hours using Flash Assisted photography

Each Flash Assisted final image is hand edited and blended to ensure print quality high resolution detail and colors.
